This land at 8a Wasleys Road had been owned by the Police Department for many years, until the Mallala Traders 2000 Committee instigated public donations toward part funding the purchase  of the four blocks by the Mallala District Council in 1994.

The Traders Committee and friends (after consultation with the Council gardener) planted trees and shrubs in the area on Anzac day 1995.
