Prior to this, the resident doctor at Mallala had ordered, stored and dispensed the required medications. The practicing doctors John and Jeanette Linn had  encouraged and instigated the search for a pharmacist to serve the towns and surrounding districts of Mallala, Two Wells and Hamley Bridge.  Mr Jones of Hamley Bridge was the pharmacist for many years followed by Mr Fred Smith.
