The corner section of land bounded by Adelaide Road and Railway Terrace at Mallala was divided and in June 1968 the rear section fronting Adelaide Road was purchased by Mrs Veronica Jean Chidley. The Mallala Chemist Shop was built and managed by pharmacist Mr Rex Chidley. Prior to this, the resident doctor at Mallala had ordered, stored and dispensed the required medications. The practicing doctors John and Jeanette Linn had  encouraged and instigated the search for a pharmacist to serve the towns and surrounding districts of Mallala, Two Wells and Hamley Bridge. In 1973 Mr Kevin Jones of Hamley Bridge purchased the business and was the pharmacist for many years followed by Mr Fred Smith.
