The land at 8a Wasleys Road had been owned by the Police Department for many years with the aim of building a new police station on the site. When the Government finally decided not to continue with this building they put the land up for sale.  The Mallala Traders 2000 Committee and other interested persons urged the Council to purchase this packet of land in the centre of the town for use as a park. The committee canvassed the district and instigated public donations toward part funding the purchase of the four blocks by the Mallala District Council in 1994.

The area was very neglected, dusty and overgrown with weeds. The Traders Committee and friends (after consultation with the Council gardener) donated the money to purchase plants. On Anzac day 1995 committee members and friends planted trees and shrubs in the park and continued the weed control and watering program to establish the area over many years.

In 2009 The Mallala and District Lions Club kindly donated a seat which is placed adjacent to the walkway through the Australia Remembers Park.

The Mallala KESAB committee members have taken over the weed control and watering of new plants.

In the year 2010 it is an attractive area .

Memories of Australia Remembers Park

Public recreational areas in the township of Mallala are very limited and it was an important and far reaching decision by the Traders and Friends Committee to instigate the purchase of this land.

It can be like a cup of coffee it is all in how you make it. I have decided to look at my life as a garden because your harvest all depends on what seeds you plant.

Meet The New Boss: You

What do coffee growers in Ethiopia, hardware store owners in America, and Basque entrepreneurs have in common? For one thing, many of them belong to cooperatives. By pooling their money and resources, and voting democratically on how those resources will be used, they can compete in business and reinvest the benefits in their communities.
